The school located at Panavally Panchayath, near Cherthala in Alappuzha District of Kerala State. The journey started with 20 students at present the strength is above 100 students. The school is set in lovely surroundings in a beautiful village. It has a rich loving atmosphere and wonderful neighborhood along with a large parent involvement, where every child matters and every child achieve. The school believes that everybody can achieve. Staffs are highly motivated and experienced. They are taught in lovely. surroundings and will receive support to potentially enable them to make the transition from education to work.

Management
Assisi Special School for the mentally challenged started in the year 2005 under the charitable Society of the Congregation of Theresian Carmelites (CTC) managed by Devamatha province. The school is located at Panavally Panchayath, near Cherthala in Alappuzha District of Kerala State. The school is set in lovely surroundings in a beautiful village. It has a rich loving atmosphere. Students age ranges from 3-22 years old. A total 100 students with autism disorders are enrolled with us and we have a hostel facility for girls. They are accommodating a larger number of students and training them with the latest programs that serve the school’s greatest goals. The school believes that every child matters and every child can achieve. Staff are highly motivated and experienced. They are taught in lovely. surroundings and will receive support to potentially enable them to make the transition from education to work.
Assisi Special School for the Mentally challenged specializes in mentally challenged children and autism spectrum disorders. Its doors are open throughout the year with state-of-the-art classrooms specifically designed to meet its students’ sensory and environmental needs. We work to raise awareness and understanding of autism spectrum disorders and promote the rights of all individuals to be treated with dignity and respect. We work to empower individuals with autism to fully participate in successful inclusion programs.

Our Strength
Our approach involves a comprehensive perspective, where we work together with the family to create a tailored plan for each child. Our custom-made tools play a crucial role in achieving the set goals, and we take great care in incorporating the family’s input throughout the process.
We work with children diagnosed with a range of Neuromuscular Disorders (like Cerebral Palsy, Dystonia etc.), Genetic Disorders, Abnormal Muscle Tone, Sensory Processing Difficulties, Delayed Developmental Milestones, fine motor/ visual motor deficit and self-care difficulties.

Our Team
Our staff works together in an excellent team relationship. We encourage our students to become independent and express their wishes and aspirations. Additionally, our school council plans fun events, like debates and fun days, for the entire school to enjoy.
Our teachers and teaching assistants are experienced and qualified therapists who collaborate with other services like physiotherapists and speech and language specialists. With small class sizes, students receive ample support and attention to assist them in overcoming challenging tasks.
Our team works closely with outside experts, including speech and language therapists. In addition, our staff members have specialized training in a range of areas such as communication, autism, reading, visual and inpatient care, behavior management, and football coaching. We also have expertise in design and crafts, drama, art, and music, including painting and decorating.
At our school, we believe in providing an enjoyable learning experience that promotes independence and social skills. Our staff has a diverse range of experiences, both inside and outside of the classroom, and provides supervised challenges to help students expand their understanding of the world around them.
We prioritize fostering independence in our students. We encourage children to express their desires and goals, and we provide opportunities for them to do so through events like food sales and fun days that involve the whole school. Additionally, we work closely with parents and professionals to ensure that we are meeting our students’ needs for health and social care.
The students produce and sell some of the food items like Pickles and other Crafts, and some of them have the real talent for making candles and Hanging baskets. The students are ready to take up small business project to perform their talents in publics called Perfect Pots. They have supplied these handmade items to staff, parents, and the local community. They are learning to manage time and ability. Most importantly, they have learned to work as a team, solve problems, and value each other’s contributions. They feel valued by their customers both in school and the local community.

Our students can expect to achieve to the best of their ability we help them to interact with staff, fellow.students and outside organizations. The school prides itself on each child achieving as much as he or she is capable of. The core curriculum is tailored towards meeting each individual student’s needs. The school has close links with parents, including local churches, institutions, and friends from the local community. We believe that outreach work with families is particularly important.
At Assisi Elementary our focus is providing an academic environment with the highest student achievement possible, in an engaging and safe learning environment. Children and teachers alike must become master learners, problem solvers and world communicators to be effective and successful. We are proud to have received an “A” grade for the 2016-2017 school year and still we are the great performers for the last couple of years.
